FOUNDER, REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER, PSYCHOTHERAPIST (SHE/HER)

Louisa Larocque

HBA, MSW, RSW

You have spent years trying to figure out why everything feels harder for you: relationships, routines, emotions, work, and rest. You have been called sensitive, intense, scattered, lazy, too much, and not enough, often all at once. You have become an expert at hiding your overwhelm, constantly performing a version of “okay” while quietly burning out inside. Maybe you are experiencing a unique life event, or have recently discovered that you are neurodivergent — perhaps ADHD, autistic, or both — and now everything finally makes sense… and also nothing makes sense… at all.

You might be grieving the years you went unseen. You could be feeling relief and confusion, anger and hope, exhaustion and determination all at the same time. You want to let go of shame, stop masking, and figure out what a self-honouring life looks like, but you are not sure where to begin. That is where I come in.

I help people stop gaslighting themselves and start building lives that feel authentic and sustainable. In our work together, we will explore the why behind your patterns and build practical, affirming strategies for relationships, work, and rest.

Hear me when I say this:

You are not too much.

You have just rarely been met with enough understanding.

As a feminist and neurodivergent therapist, I am dedicated to supporting teens and adults as they navigate the complexities of depression, anxiety, and/or neurodivergent identity.

Sessions are available in 50- or 110-minute formats to accommodate varying attention spans, processing speeds, and sensory needs. My practice is intentionally designed to reduce barriers: therapy is covered by most insurance plans and inclusive of non-traditional communication styles.

My background includes an Honours BA in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University, with a clinical focus on adult autism. I bring not only academic knowledge but years of frontline and clinical experience supporting diverse clients across systems, from crisis response to long-term therapy.

What this means for you is that I deeply understand the intersection of identity, neurodivergence, and trauma. I view neurodivergence as a celebrated difference, not a deficit. My aim is to empower clients to embrace their unique strengths — like hyper-focus and creative thinking — and use them to their advantage. My approach integrates evidence-based therapies, such as:

  • Self-Compassion Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy: This approach helps you develop self-kindness and reduces self-criticism by shifting your thoughts and behaviours towards more compassionate self-care.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy: This modality focuses on improving emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and communication skills, helping you manage intense emotions and navigate relationships effectively.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: This therapy encourages you to accept the aspects of life that are beyond your control and to commit to actions that align with your personal values, fostering a more meaningful life.

  • Motivational Interviewing: This technique is designed to enhance your motivation and confidence, empowering you to make positive changes by exploring and resolving any ambivalence you may have.

  • Narrative Therapy: This approach helps you reframe your personal story and relationships, giving you the tools to take control of your narrative and create a more empowering and coherent sense of self.

This is called “eclectic” therapy because it combines multiple therapeutic approaches, tailoring each session to meet your unique needs. Non-traditional talk therapy is available for those who prefer to stray from Western-centred modalities.

In our sessions, you can expect honesty, accountability, and a genuine commitment to your well-being. We will challenge societal narratives, internalized beliefs, cultivate self-compassion, embody authenticity, and strengthen your self-advocacy.
